MM Search is always proud of the team, but we are particularly proud of Founding Managing Partner Ken Morrice this month. In September 2021, Ken headed to Nice to take part in France’s famous Ironman event. The gruelling triathlon requires participants to swim 3.8km in the sea before completing a mountainous 180km cycle ride. Finally, the competitors run a full marathon – that’s a whopping 26.2 miles.
As with everything Ken tackles both in and out of the office, he threw himself into the incredible challenge whole-heartedly and had been working hard to prepare for the event over the last year. “It’s no surprise to me that Ken managed to complete such a mammoth task,” said MM Search Founding Managing Partner Derek MacFeate. “Ken is one of the most dedicated individuals I have ever met. When he sets his mind to something, there is nothing that will get in the way – that’s true whether he’s working on securing the perfect candidate for a role or training for a triathlon!”
As well as rigorous swimming and running training schedules, Ken was taking tips from cycling royalty in the run-up to the triathlon. One week before he headed to Nice, Ken took part in Social Bite’s Break the Cycle. This 60-mile cycle between Glasgow and Edinburgh raised money to help build two new villages for people experiencing homelessness. Ken was in very good company as Olympic legend Sir Chris Hoy also took part in the fundraising event! “I was delighted to get involved and support Social Bite with this event,” said Ken. “It was fantastic to cycle alongside Sir Chris Hoy and even had a chat with him – he is a genuine gent!”
“The Ironman was the toughest physical challenge I have ever taken on,” says Ken. “It was a brilliant experience, though, and the setting was amazing. I am just waiting for the aches and pains to subside, and then I’ll start planning my next challenge!”
Congratulations, Ken – what an incredible effort!
