It was back to school for MM Search this week; founding managing partner Derek MacFeate retraced his steps and paid homage to his alma mater, Kelvinside Academy in Glasgow.
Derek and Client Engagement Executive Andrew Jardine were invited to present to the S6 pupils to give them insight into their career journeys and how best to approach professional life.
Derek MacFeate, Founding Managing Partner, MM Search, said: “Kelvinside Academy is one of Scotland’s most prestigious independent schools with a reputation for outstanding teaching and strong academic results, superb pastoral care, and a diverse and relevant extracurricular programme.
“The six year pupils were a great group, interactive and entertaining – asking both direct and insightful career questions, they certainly had some excellent interview skills. My favourite question of the morning was directed at my attire, and I was proud to reply that my tartan trews were from Slanj which coincidentally is run by ex-pupils of Kelvinside Brian and Craig Halley!
“As part of the session, we also discussed diverse career paths and the many different approaches to the ‘what next’ question, which was all timely considering the upcoming prelim exams. It was also important that Andrew was also able to give the students the graduate career story, which certainly provided great tangible evidence for the pupils. We look forward to returning to the school next year with a follow-up CV preparation workshop.
“It was an honour to be able to revisit my former school, meet the teachers and hear about what career journeys mean to young minds.”
