With a recruitment career spanning 16 years, MM Search’s new Associate Partner, Lindsay MacLeod, brings invaluable experience and expertise to the business…

I decided I wanted to work in recruitment when…
A friend recommended the industry to me. Before I started working in recruitment, I had been working in product-based sales for 10 years. I had quite a big territory and did a lot of traveling with work which was something I wanted to stop. A friend of mine worked in recruitment and suggested that I consider it, so I attended an open day with a global recruiter. I secured a role recruiting into procurement and supply chain and that was 16 years ago!

I love interacting with all different kinds of businesses and I get to meet very interesting and impressive people every day. I still feel very passionately about the industry after all this time.

I joined the MM Search team…
In March 2023. I had previously worked with Ken and Derek and I believe that they have a really solid proposition with MM Search. The business values are very aligned with my own principles and their people-first approach really resonated with me.

The first thing I do when I get to the office is…
My days start early as I have two kids and two dogs so by the time I land in the office, I’ve already put in a two and a half our shift! The first thing I do is make a large coffee and breathe! Then I go through my diary and check my schedule so that I can prepare for the meetings I have that day.

My working day involves…
My days are very people focused and I spend a lot of time communicating with organisations, candidates and potential candidates. My role involves connecting organisations with the people that can help them to achieve their business goals while also finding positions for candidates that will help them to fulfil their career aspirations.

My greatest professional strength is…
My ability to communicate and collaborate. These are the skills that enable me to understand the needs and culture of an organisation and to identify the best people for the business.

The highlight of my career so far was…
While working with a non-profit on a multi-hire campaign. It was a challenging project and at the end of the campaign, my contact from the business gave me a hug and said that I had totally surpassed every expectation both in terms of the calibre and the quantity of people I had placed. That gave me a huge sense of achievement and has really stayed with me.

The thing I love most about working with the MM Search team is…
The team here have so much energy and it’s very clear that everyone in the business is on the same page. It’s a very people-focused environment and I really enjoy that we all want to work together to create the best outcome for each individual.

When I’m not in work, you’ll usually find me…
With the important people in my life. Life can be quite frantic so when there’s some down-time I like to make plans with my friends and family.

My motto is…
Don’t look back. I believe that everything in life is a learning experience and that it’s important to look in the direction you’re headed, and that should be forwards.

My goals for 2023 are to…
I’m looking forward to carving out my niche here at MM Search and being successful in my new role. I also want to make sure I’m dedicating the right time and energy to the important people around me so that I know their wellbeing is supported. It’s all about the small things and creating a balance between being in a happy place, being successful and being well.

My secret skill/party piece is…
I like doing floristry and I’ve even done a couple of weddings for friends. I also enjoy a bit of karaoke and have been known to sing the odd Amy Winehouse song!

What was the last gift you gave someone?
One of my friends was going through a tough time recently and I thought she needed a little bit of TLC, so another friend and I bought her a spa break. We all went away for a couple of days and it was so nice spend that time together and see her being pampered.

If you were an animal, what would you be?
I think I would be a monkey because I’m quite curious and emotionally intelligent… I can be a bit mischievous too!

How would your best friend describe you in 3 words?
Loyal, driven and caring.

How would your colleagues describe you in 3 words?
Knowledgeable, determined and genuine.
