MM Athletes: Denise Trayling
MM Athletes, which has been helping talented sportspeople achieve their full potential since last year, announced our support of Inverclyde-based weightlifter Denise Trayling earlier this year. We are delighted to continue our support ahead of Denise’s upcoming competition.
When we last caught up with Denise, she was thinking ahead to her next competition which will be the European Masters Championships 2023 held in Waterford Ireland. The competition runs over 9 days starting on Monday 15th May where Denise will be lifting in the w50-59kg class.
“Training has been back on track after my recent wrist injury” Denise told MM Search, “The next few weeks I am focusing on the gym and keeping my weight at the right level for the weigh in.
The group I am competing against looks very competitive with 9 very experienced lifters registered. Safe to say the nerves are gradually starting to creep in!”
Denise flies to Dublin on Sunday 14th then it’s a bus trip to Waterford for an overnight stay ahead of the early start on Monday 15th.
Despite only beginning her weightlifting journey a few years ago, Denise has already won gold at the British Masters in 2019 and at the Scottish Masters in 2022. She was initially introduced to the sport by legendary weightlifter and fellow MM Athlete George Byng.
MM Search is delighted to provide Denise with sponsorship to support in her upcoming competition. Denise said, “With entry fees, travel, accommodation and physiotherapy, you do invest a lot in the sport and so I really appreciate the support of MM Search, it’s amazing.”
Derek MacFeate, Founding Managing Partner at MM Search commented, “Denise serves as a reminder of the importance of pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and trying something new. Starting a new sport can be a daunting prospect but, as Denise shows, it can come with a huge number of benefits including health improvements and finding challenge that invigorates both the mind and body. The whole MM Search team is right behind Denise ahead of the European Masters Championships and we wish her the very best of luck!”
