Launched in November 2022, MM Athletes is an innovative new programme that enables MM Search to support individuals in sport. With a diverse array of Athletes, including veteran Scottish weightlifter, George Byng, and Biggar Rugby Club player, Andy Jardine, the initiative intends to help sports stars achieve their full potential whether they are at grassroots level or play professionally.
This month, MM Search is delighted to share that MM Athletes will now also be supporting Glasgow City FC goalkeeper, Lee Gibson. Lee first joined the Glasgow City FC team back in 2006 and her footballing career and the club have gone from strength to strength, with the team currently sitting at the top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League. “Glasgow City is run by two amazing women, Carol Anne Stewart and Laura Montgomery,” explains Lee. “They founded the club in 1998 and built it into what it is today, with 23 professional players in a Premiership squad. I never thought that would have been possible, it’s amazing and I can’t speak highly enough of what Laura and Cas have done for the club.”
MM Search is very proud to be sponsoring Lee’s home kit for the coming season and Lee explains that this kind of support is crucial to both the club and the sport. “Glasgow City FC is a standalone club, and we wouldn’t be able to function without support and sponsorship,” she says. “Investment allows us to create opportunities and grow the game, we wouldn’t be a club without it.
“We’re so appreciative of everything we have. As well as wonderful fans and volunteers, we’re fortunate enough to have professional staff now too. That was unheard of before and it’s amazing to know that there are people that want to continue to grow the game and give opportunities to young girls.
“As a club, we continually try to break down barriers and that’s why I’m so proud to play for our team. When we’re playing, we’re always doing our best to create a positive atmosphere and a welcoming environment that will inspire others to get involved.”
