We are still ecstatic after last week’s charity gala dinner, which we hosted in partnership with the Ellie Soutter Foundation (ESF) at the Malmaison in Glasgow’s Blythswood Square.
This was our third event raising money for such a fantastic cause; this time round, we raised a massive £13,150, bringing the grand total of the three events to £35,000. Over 80 clients attended the black-tie dinner, colleagues, friends of the foundation, and business associates of MM Search, all of whom bid extremely generously in the live and silent auction to help us raise this phenomenal amount. A HUGE thanks to those in attendance on the evening and for all the fabulous prizes and donations.
ESF will use the funds raised to identify and provide support for young people who have a demonstrable talent for winter sports and would otherwise be unable to maximise their potential because of a lack of financial resources. The funds will go towards developing grants for equipment, training, travel, competing and accommodation.
We were honoured to have the founder of the Ellie Soutter Foundation, Tony Soutter, in attendance, and he gave us an honest and fascinating insight into the charity and its work. It was also brilliant to have 12-year-old skier Xavier Poynton give us first-hand insights into the importance of the support he receives as one of the ESF athletes. We were also delighted to have passionate speaker Laura Montgomery, one of the founders of the Glasgow City FC, explain the importance of mental health in sports. Laura was so inspirational that one of the auction’s winners donated their prize to the football team, a weekend on a skippered yacht!
We are also hugely thankful for the businesses that donated prizes and experiences to the auction. Special thanks to Innis & Gunn, Nevis Sport, Ishga, Ox and Finch, Morton Hospitality, GWRFC Hospitality, Glasgow Warriors and Isle of Harris Gin. We were also honoured to have received table favour donations from Glaswegin and Buchanan’s sweets.
The evening also featured excellent entertainment from a trio of young pipers and the Scottish folk band The Laurettes.
The ESF is important to us at MM Search, and it was the catalyst that enabled us to launch MM Athletes, an innovative new programme that allows MM Search to support individuals in sports. MM Athletes intends to help sports stars achieve their full potential, whether they are at the grassroots level or play professionally. With a diverse array of Athletes, including veteran Scottish weightlifter George Byng, Biggar Rugby Club player Andy Jardine, and Glasgow City FC goalkeeper Lee Gibson.
