MM Search is delighted to announce that the business has recently signed a further three-year sponsorship deal with Greenock Wanderers Rugby Football Club.
MM Search has been the main sponsor of GWRFC since the business launched in 2018, and the team is thrilled to continue its support of this historic club and grassroots sport. “It’s an absolute honour to be able to sponsor the Greenock Wanderers,” says Founding Managing Partner, Derek MacFeate. “The club was founded in 1873, making it one of the oldest in Scotland, and it’s amazing to be a small part of this rich history. We’re particularly excited to be the Wanderers’ key sponsor as they approach their 150th anniversary, which is a hugely significant landmark for the club.”
Derek has a close relationship with the club and served as vice-captain in 1995-96. He has also been coaching with the club for over 10 years and is currently the head coach of the Under 15s Boys team, while his son now plays in the youth team. “I don’t think it’s possible to overestimate the importance of grassroots sport,” says Derek. “The health benefits are hugely important, but it goes much deeper than that. Clubs like the Greenock Wanderers are central not only to the players’ lives but also to their families and the wider community. Both Ken and I are from Inverclyde and to be able to support a team that gives so much to the area is something we’re both incredibly proud of.”
“Sport is hugely important to many of the members of the MM Search team,” says Founding Managing Partner Ken. “And while executive search and rugby may, at first glance, appear to be worlds apart, there are a number of parallels between the MM Search ethos and team sports. We believe passionately in building teams that work harmoniously and support each other to perform at the highest level, and GWRFC embodies that belief.”
The support that the MM Search sponsorship offers GWRFC enables the club to purchase essential equipment, including the playing kit for the 1st XV, and travel to away games around the country. Club President, Kevin Murray says, “The investment from MM Search is truly invaluable to GWRFC. In addition to crucial finances, Derek and Ken provide the club with an excellent level of support that helps to inspire our teams and encourages them to be the best they can be. We really couldn’t be more grateful for their involvement.”
The season’s first game will take place on the third of September when the 1st XV will take on Whitecraigs Rugby Club. The MM Search team are looking forward to enjoying some first-class sport with friends and colleagues and will be attending the game the following week, when the Wanderers play Gordonians RFC at home. “We host regular lunches at the club,” explains Derek. “The hospitality at Greenock Wanderers is second to none, and it’s an excellent opportunity to invite potential clients, candidates, community contacts and the wider MM Search family along to get to know them better. By spending time together in a more relaxed setting, we can better understand our clients’ businesses and their individual needs while sharing MM Search’s passion for grassroots sport.”
